Can I just start by giving a huge shoutout to two of my best friends who recieved their calls! My darling Whitney is going to Paris, the city of lights, and my BFFAE Hannah is hitting up Disney World aka Orlando, Florida! And soon my other penthouse pal womb mate Ham will be getting her call! And you best belive there will be another grand shoutout. I am so proud of them! (Also a little sad because they leave when I reach my halfway mark so I won’t be seeing them for quite some time, but I will suffer through because that just means our reunion is going to be off the hook!) Oh and one more shoutout to Stina! Happy of all happy birthdays!
And now we can return to business. This week Sister Hansen and I focused on listening to the still small voice and it paid off. On Monday, after returning from our Pday festivities (see photos), we felt prompted to go by a lady we had doored weeks ago. When we had rang she was busy washing the dishes but she said we could come back later. This time we went by and she let us in! It. gets. better. She said that they had just returned from vacation that day but asked when we could have an appointment. Her husband was a little skeptical to meet with us, but she politely told him off and we set a time! Going by her house was quiet out of the way for us, but Sister Hansen and I felt prompted AND we listened to that prompting. And it paid off: 2 new investigators.
Flashforward to Tuesday. We had an appointment with a certain Frau W from the Elder’s Area Book. She called that morning and canceled out of the blue. We were also planning on bringing a member and stopping by the member’s friend that lives by Frau W. We decided to still go by the friend, but she wasn’t home either. Sister Hansen wanted to drop an invitation for the upcoming ward party at Frau W’s apartment since we were in the area. The member stayed in the car as we ran to the door and started writing a personal message on the invite. A lady stuck her head out of the apartment window and asked if we wanted to come in. We politely declined because we didn’t have time to door the building as the member was patiently waiting in the car. Then the Holy Ghost worked his magic. I stuck my head out and asked if that lady was Frau W. It was! She invited us in again and I ran to get the member from the car. We ended up having the wonderful lesson we planned. Who knows why she canceled the first time (satan, grrr!) but because we followed the tiny promptings we were able to teach her anyways. And she came to the ward’s thanksgiving party. She told us all about her 50 year old boyfriend (mind you, she is 80) and her past life of riding horses. Frau W is super sick now (after all, she is 80) and it was such a neat experience to tell her all about how she will one day recieve a perfect body. I never thought how awesome that news is to people who have never heard it. It’s pretty great though! A perfect body? Sign me up!
Not everything was perfect this week though. We had a eating appointment at a member’s house who insisted we each eat 10 pieces of HEAVILY buttered bread. You should know, I hate butter. I don’t even like to cook with it if I can avoid it. After 5 pieces I decided something needed to be done. I sacrified my cardigan and began putting the most buttered parts in my pocket. When we left the house I threw the now massive butter ball out of my pocket into the grass fields. The beautiful ring that Sister Rasmussen gave me came off with it and landed in the middle of a tall grass field! It was no where to be found. I am so sorry Sister Rasmussen! 😥 And then all that butter made us sick and we had to spend a day in our beds sleeping and trying not to die. Just kidding, it wasn’t the butter and we weren’t going to die. Do not fret! We are healthy and back on our feet!
Until next week, when I have more crazy adventures and spiritual moments especially for you(th)!
