Let’s talk about the rule of threes. 3 transfers. 3 miracles. and 3 days until my 6 month mark. 333! times 3! 3, it’s a magic number!
The First Three: Transfer calls came this week and you’ll never believe what happened. Sister Hansen and I are staying together for our 3rd transfer! 🙂 For some, that may be too long, but not with her! We are like 2 peas in a pod. We can’t wait to spend Thanksgiving, Christmas, and News Year together. Sadly though, our Elders have been taken out. We are now taking over their program. We are excited for them to go serve in the West, but they will be missed. Insert tear drop.
The Second Three: We saw three major miracles this week that can’t go unnoticed. Fr. G is back from the hospital so we got to meet with her. She is extremely ill, currently on Chemo, but is always optimistic. She told us that she was given 3 months to live….5 years ago! That is a miracle in and of itself. She said that she believes God has allowed her to live longer so that she could meet us. She then told us of a wonderful dream she had while she was in a coma a few weeks ago. There are a lot of details, but in essence we were in the dream trying to help her. It was such an amazing spiritual experience hearing her talk about this dream. It are moments like that that really put your mission into retrospect. If that’s the only miracle I see on my mission, it would be worth it! Luckily though, it’s not.I still have 2 miracle stories for you.
After meeting with Fr. G, we went by a lady who met with missionaries a year ago. So much has changed in her life during that year and she was so open. We talked about being baptized and she replied ‘yes, I know that is what God wants me to do. That is the right path for me. Let me go get my calendar to write down my baptismal date.’ Our jaws dropped. It is amazing to see how the Lord prepares people for this gospel. I can not express my gratitude for being a part of this work of salvation.
The third miracle came while I was on exchange with a Sister Training Leader. We had a referral to ‘show our name tags’ in an old store and ‘see if the 50 year old lady will talk to you.’ It was a strange referral, but we did what we could. We walked into the store and I asked for help finding a Christmas ornament. There was a bunch of people in the store but I said I prayer in my heart that they would leave. Soon the store was cleared out and for 40 minutes we got to talk with this lady. Turns out she has interest in American Indians so we used that to talk about the Book of Mormon. She actually has one and has read a bit from it but doesn’t know what to do with so many religions in the world. Hmmm, sounds like my friend Joseph Smith if you ask me! Haha. Anyways, we will be meeting with her again.
The Third Three: I will be hitting my 6 month mark in 3 days. Where has the time gone?! I am glad that my mission has been officially extended so that I have more time here, because it goes by all too fast. I wish everyone a happy Thanksgiving! Please eat lots of yams with marshmallows for me. Marshmellows? Mershmallows? ugh spell check wherefore art thou?!
Until next week,
