This week I was literally flipping through Proverbs and came upon this verse ‘The fining pot is for silver, and the furnace for gold: but the Lord trieth the hearts.’ proverbs 17:3. The imagery really touched me and I kept thinking about how a mission is a refiner’s fire. The Lord is surely trying my heart! I have been stretched beyond my means and dragged out of my comfort zone and have experience the most incredible highs and lows, and to put it simply, my heart has been tried. But oh how grateful I am for that! Just like gold needs a furnace to have the stunning effect it has, we need experiences that will mold us into the stunning spirits God intended us to become.
I realize where my success lies. I know I am here to succeed and I appreciate all of your faithful prayers and letters and support. d a n k e.
This week I had a really neato experience. I call it FOUNTAIN TO FIND. Sister McBride and I were going by 3 inactive members, none of whom were home. We doored their buildings as well, but nobody had interest. #topfloorlastdoor. At the last house we noticed a giant African looking fountain in the middle of the city. My curious self insisted that we check it out and take a photo. While I was busy snapping a photo, Sister McBride talked to a lady on the bench and asked her about the history of this fountain. We ended up talking with her for a good 30 minutes and she even showed us the way to an even cooler fountain! At the end of the conversation we explained why we are here and asked if she would have interest in reading the Book of Mormon. She was all for that! We have met with her again and explained all about our message. Fr.S is not religious, but has a sincere desire to learn about God. I can’t wait to meet with her again in a few days!
On a side note, the weather is 94 degrees with a giant side of humidity. Prayers are appreciated, I would prefer NOT to melt like my ice cream.
Viele liebe grüße,
Sister Helzer
